Cleaning the walls – it’s one of those jobs you see needs doing, but the thought of spending time getting those marks off the wall is enough to make you look the other way.
Walls can be hard to keep clean and it can feel like a big job when you need to clean them.
Dirty finger prints, scuff marks and sometimes even ink from pens and permanent markers can make your walls look dirty.
Follow these 8 easy steps to make your walls look newly painted again.
What you need:
- Duster
- Masking tape
- Drop sheet
- Sugar soap
- Clean towel
- Baking soda
- Water
- Cleaning cloth
- Sponge
What to do:
- Place a drop sheet under the wall area you are working on. This ensures that no water or cleaning solution will ruin your flooring.
- Cover or move any furniture in the area to avoid water splashes.
- Cover any power points with masking tape to avoid water getting into the sockets.
- Dust wall – It is important to dust the wall to remove any dust or dirt that will add further staining when cleaning the walls.
- Remove marks – Remove any marks on the wall with a paste made out of baking soda and water. With a cleaning cloth and the paste rub the stain softly until it lifts away.
- Wash walls – Start at the top of the wall and work your way down. Spray sugar soap onto your wall and leave it for approximately 30 seconds. Leave the sugar soap longer for areas that look dirtier.
- Rinse clean – With your damp sponge, wipe down the walls from top to bottom to remove the sugar soap residue and to ensure no further staining or streaks.
- Dry walls – Dab the wall dry using your clean towel.
